Animated 404 Pages

You can now add a new twist to your 404 pages – they are called 404Toons and they are Free!

What is a 404 page? What, you mean you never typed an address in the browser and got it wrong?
Well, a 404 page is the page that shows up when someone goes to a page that’s not actually there, whether or not it was at one time. If it’s not there or you spelled it wrong or maybe the dog ate it, whatever happened and your browser cannot locate it in the map of the site, you will be shown the 404 Page like this:

Not Found

The requested URL /Dog-Ate-It.htm was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Apache/2.2.11 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.11 OpenSSL/0.9.8e-fips-rhel5 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/ PHP/5.2.9 Server at www.7thdwarf.co.uk Port 80

Now that looks like it could be helpful to your website visitor – NOT!

Enter 404Toon.com, they are sets of cool little animations that will help your 404 pages look a bit more “User Friendly” by letting you download as many animations as you like for your pages, they all have a little speech that they tell visitors when one gets there by, uh-accident!

This is my favorite at the moment:

They also make more animated characters at http://www.spokestoon.com/ where you can choose to use your own script to make your character say what you like when the visitor views your website page, not just your 404 page.

Yes, you will have to pay for this service, but it is very reasonable and for such a great addition to your blog/website, etc… well worth it.

I suggest downloading all the 404Toons now and then rotate them every now and then or use different ones on different sites. Serious Fun Man!
